Custom Festival Cups: Artwork, Print Methods and Proofing
Custom festival cups start with a file and end on a bar. What happens in between is mostly artwork: getting a design that works on a curved, translucent surface, at cup scale, under a marquee at dusk. This page covers that process. Send us whatever you have and our studio sets it against the printable area, flags what will not survive the shrink, and sends a proof back before anything is moulded.
There are three routes onto the cup, and the right one depends on your design rather than your budget alone. Single colour print is cheapest per unit and suits crests, wordmarks and deposit instructions. Full colour pad print handles multi-colour artwork and sponsor lock-ups. Full-wrap in-mould labelling fuses the design into the cup wall during moulding, giving photographic reproduction that cannot scuff, fade or peel across a season of washes. Custom festival cups printed by IML carry no per-colour upcharge, so a four-colour headline design costs what a one-colour design costs.
A few things reliably go wrong with festival artwork. Thin reversed-out type disappears against a dark drink. Logos that sit right on a poster get lost at 80mm. Sponsor lock-ups arrive at the last minute in the wrong colour space. None of these are expensive to fix if they are caught at proof stage, which is why we proof everything and why we would rather have your files early than perfect.
Minimum order is 50 cups. Standard lead time is 10 working days from proof approval, 25 on the Eco Saver tier at the lowest unit price, and 48 hours on express. Sizes are 568ml pint-to-line, 625ml pint-to-brim and 280ml half pint, all UKCA marked at the measure.
