I ordered reusable cups for my event and they were perfect. Great quality, durable, and the printing looked amazing. Guests loved them and they were a much better eco-friendly alternative to disposable cups. The ordering process was smooth and delivery was quick. I'll definitely be buying again for future events.

Made at the Source

Our eco cups are moulded at our factory in Teesside. A cup made in the UK and delivered to a UK event carries a materially shorter freight footprint than one containerised from overseas, which is the part of the sustainability calculation most suppliers leave off their website. When you order from Drinksmate, you are buying from the manufacturer, not a reseller.

UK Manufactured

Moulded and printed at our own factory in Stockton-on-Tees. No overseas lead times, no importer markup.

Short Supply Chain

UK moulding and UK stock holding cut the freight footprint that imported eco cups quietly carry.

Single Material, Recyclable

Polypropylene, recycling code 5, with no liner or laminate. It recycles cleanly at end of life rather than needing separation.

What Makes a Cup Genuinely an Eco Cup?

There is no legal definition of "eco cup", which is exactly why the word gets applied to three very different products: reusable polypropylene cups, compostable disposables, and ordinary recyclable disposables. Only the first is actually reused. If a supplier quotes you under 10p a cup and calls it an eco cup, you are being quoted a disposable.

A genuine eco cup is engineered to survive repeated commercial washing. That is what allows the manufacturing footprint to be repaid across reuses, and it is the whole basis of the economics.

Eco Cups: What They Are, What They Cost and How UK Events Use Them

An eco cup is a reusable drinking cup, almost always moulded from food-grade polypropylene, designed to be washed and used hundreds of times rather than thrown away after one drink. A single eco cup replaces between 100 and 250 single-use disposables across its working life. In the UK events trade, "eco cup", "festival cup" and "reusable event cup" all describe the same product. We mould and print ours at our factory in Stockton-on-Tees, so what you buy comes direct from the manufacturer.
Reusables carry a higher manufacturing footprint than a single disposable, and that footprint is repaid across reuses. Independent life-cycle work on event drinkware consistently puts the break-even against single-use plastic at roughly three to ten uses, depending on wash method and transport distance. A cup used across one three-day festival weekend has already cleared it. Two things move the number in your favour: bulk commercial washing on site rather than off-site cleaning, and a short supply chain, which is where UK manufacture beats containerised imports.
Judge eco cups on cost per serve rather than unit price. A 6p disposable costs 6p on every single drink served, forever, plus the waste contract to remove it. A 40p reusable cup costs 40p once and then serves hundreds of drinks, and with a deposit scheme at £2 to £3 per cup the unreturned stock is effectively sold well above cost. Our branded eco cups start from £0.33 per cup at 5,000 units on the Eco Saver tier, with a 50 cup minimum order across both single colour and full colour print.

Reusable Eco Cups vs. Compostable Disposables

Two very different products sold under the same word. Here is what separates them.

Drinksmate

Drinksmate Reusable Eco Cups

UK Manufacturer · Direct from the factory

  • 200+ Uses per Cup
A reusable eco cup replaces between 100 and 250 disposables. A compostable cup is still one cup per drink served.
  • No Special Waste Route Needed
Compostable cups need industrial composting to deliver their benefit, which most UK event waste streams do not provide. Ours recycle through standard PP5 streams.
  • Cost Falls With Every Reuse
A disposable costs you again on every drink, plus the waste contract. A reusable is bought once and then serves hundreds of drinks.
  • Works With Deposit Schemes
Deposit return at £2 to £3 per cup turns eco cups into a revenue line. Disposables cannot be deposited.
  • Branding That Survives
In-mould labelling fuses artwork into the cup wall so it cannot peel or fade. Disposables carry surface print that is binned within minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our reusable cups, printing processes, and delivery times.

An eco cup is a reusable drinking cup, typically moulded from food-grade polypropylene, designed to be washed and reused hundreds of times instead of being discarded after one use. In the UK events industry the term is used interchangeably with "festival cup" and "reusable event cup". A single eco cup replaces between 100 and 250 single-use disposables over its working life.
No. Eco cups in the events sense are reusable and survive 200 or more commercial wash cycles. Compostable cups are single use and require industrial composting facilities to break down, which most UK event waste streams do not provide. Suppliers use "eco" for both, so check whether a cup is rated for repeated dishwashing before you order.
Our polypropylene eco cups are rated for 200 or more commercial dishwasher cycles. In practice cups are usually lost or taken home as souvenirs long before they wear out. Because full colour artwork is fused into the cup wall by in-mould labelling rather than printed on the surface, the branding lasts as long as the cup does.
Yes. Our cups are moulded from polypropylene, recycling code 5, with no laminate or liner. Being a single unmixed material, they recycle more cleanly than a PLA-lined paper cup, which needs separating before processing. Recycling is the end-of-life route after a cup has already served hundreds of drinks.
Branded eco cups start from £0.33 per cup at 5,000 units on our Eco Saver tier, with a 50 cup minimum order. At 2,000 units, single colour pint to line is £0.35 and full colour is £0.55. Pricing is volume driven because setup cost is fixed regardless of quantity, so small runs cost more per unit.
Yes, provided the cup carries a UKCA line measure. Our pint, half-pint and two-pint eco cups are UKCA marked at the legal fill line during production, which is required for serving draught beer and cider to a stated measure on licensed premises in Great Britain. Cups used only for cocktails, spirits or soft drinks do not need the line mark.
Yes, once they are reused enough times, and the break-even is lower than most people assume. Life-cycle work on event drinkware puts the break-even against single-use plastic at roughly three to ten uses. One three-day festival clears it. Where reusables lose is when they are not reused, so avoid printing a specific event date on artwork you want to use again.
Fifty cups, across both single colour screen print and full colour in-mould labelling. The minimum applies per cup variant, so you can combine sizes in one order, for example 500 pints and 200 half pints. Most commercial runs sit between 1,000 and 50,000 cups where the per-unit price tightens considerably.
